Fine Art Oil Paintings are a valuable addition to any home or office decor. Fine Art will add character and beauty to any room. Vibrant colors and striking nautical composition is a creative way to enhance the look of a room or excite dreary blank walls. An original oil painting with deep color and textures is the best way to set the mood and create an upscale ambiance for a home or office. A sailing oil painting is a wonderful gift for any sailor and a beautiful addition to any nautically decor.

Gregory's is a unique and established Artist/Oil Painter. Gregory's soulful paintings are an exuberant reflection of a person with a passion for life. His career path, uncommon for an artist, aid in the individualist nature of his style. His artistic horizons were taken to the limits with years of study and graduate degrees in Biology, Ecology, Anatomy, Physiology, Physics,Math,Nutrition, Finance,Economics,Business Management,Human Spirituality and Religion and as well as Art with Art History. A huge , expansive knowledge and understanding of so many parts of human existence has created unlimited horizons to his art. Travel around the world twice and extensive time in Italy altered his perspective on the art of living.

What do art critics and art curators say about his paintings...

'Van Goghesque with a pulse'

' The rich brushwork and color found in his paintings meld well with his subject matter, focusing on spirituality, love, and beautiful life experiences.'

' Correspondingly, Gregory's works are raw and personal, with an expressive impasto application of paint.'

'Oil painting is not photography, Gregory states, 'The soul of the painter is in the freedom of his hand and the brush.'

'Capturing the contradiction of the material and the ethereal,'

'Gregory says he's been inspired by Impressionism, but he has also inherited Egon Schiele's eye for the body and its contortions, coupled with a pop art social critique. He uses color with unconventional daring, and his subjects, whether friends, archetypes or movie stars, are recognizable to us, but they have also been transformed by this artist's vision of his own unique worlds'

'A freeing of the mind and soul, to let the paint and paintbrush create an image of what is seen and unseen.'

' Gregory combines social commentary with an artistic confession of spirituality. His female nudes hearken back to classical figures, while they are also portrayed with strikingly contemporary shades and coloring.'

'Chicago Impressionism is a infusion of pop culture and Chicago lifestyle into the impressionistic style of Cezanne, Renoir, Van Gogh, Monet and Degas.'

'Vibrant color and broad stroked that give the viewer a sense of realism that transports the world of the viewer as Gregory sees it.'

' look deep into the understanding of the oil paint brushstrokes and the viewer find the paintings are not just a spiritual expression but also a comment on pop culture.'

Gregory states, ' The only thing that matters is what you create and how it interacts with others. Creating frees the soul.'

Gregory often quotes Voltaire, 'The soul of the painter is in the freedom of his brush.' Gregory believes a painting that looks like a photograph is missing something and boring, it is missing the soul of the painter.

Gregory lives and works on the shores and beaches of Lake Michigan, near Chicago as well as Switzerland, Hawaii and Italy.

Artist Statement

A painting is a communication, like a sentence or statement, about a subject. The paintings elements can be complex or simple. In its simple form a painting can convey beauty. In a complex form, a painting can make a comment on popular culture or document something historically. Many of my paintings make bold comments or capture pop culture. This comes from my school of painting “Chicago Impressionism. My school was formed by thousands of hours of direct study of the art at the Chicago Art Institute. A comprehensive analysis of the sketch books of Renoir, Seurat, Sargent, Monet. My school is the independent study of art itself--a study of the beauty of the Chicago Art Institute.
