Heather S. Huston is a contemporary photographer, painter and writer. She has recently relocated to the beautiful North Shore of Lake Ponchatrain in Louisiana, near New Orleans.
Her first job at 16 was in graphic design. At the age of 17 she designed sets for Corridor Alternative School's production of 'Kittens' at Eugene's prestigious Hult Center for the Performing Arts. She put art on the back burner for some time as her ineterest turned towards alternative healing. After years as a massage therapist and energy worker, Heather wandered back into the art world after relocating to Portland, Oregon. She opened Xel Gallery in the Everett Station Lofts & Galleries in 1996, where she curated all shows and openings. Xel Gallery showcased all levels and mediums of art, giving many unknown artists a chance to show and sell their work. It also gave her the opportunity to show her own work, averageing 3 to 4 shows per year. While Heather showed her photo work, paintings, kinetic sculpture, ceramic raku sculpture and mobiles~ photography had become her favorite form of artistic expression. Xel Gallery was open for 7 years before Heather moved to Sedona for a break from city life and get some much needed sunshine. She now spends her time immmersed in art, nature, photography, writing, travel and raising Mojo, the Wonder Dog and his side-kick Gypsy.
' I am so in love with photography. For the last 20 years or so, I have been fiercely devoted to my ancient Canon A1 camera. Now I work in digital more often than not. There is so much beauty in the world, I see the ART in everything . I suppose that I am a 'painterly' kind of photographer and I am a bit of a purest when it comes to making photographs. A picture is worth a thousand words... Enjoy!'
