As a person and creator I dislike staying the same size.
What has permanently inspired me over the years has always been a fleeting image of a less traditional shape, texture or colour - or a blend of the three put together - that will take my breath away on a sentimental journey ‘back to nature’ and, most importantly to me, on a journey back to who I have never been and I have always wanted to be.
My art is a nostalgic journey back to places I have never seen and to dreams that will never come true…
I like my sea mustard yellow, green and brown rather than blue and silver grey.
I like my trees black even when they are not.
Over the last few years my interest has been steadily focused on exploring the multi-layered female sexuality: hidden or intentionally put on a display, recognized or ashamed of, confessed, whispered, cried out, impossible to share and impossible to ignore, impossible to live with and impossible to live without...
Most of the time, I think in grey, black and white, the only vibrant red accent being my antiqued picture frames perfectly ‘encaging’ the ever present and the ever disturbing awareness of how short and precious our time on earth is.
I work in acrylic and oil on canvas or watercolour paper.
Left with any piece of paper is always a huge temptation though…
