I am Portuguese and live in Lisbon, a beautiful and sunny country full of light and nice places.
I started to learn painting with Luis GuimarĂ£es a great Portuguese portait teacher. Oil was my first contact with brushes.
My first lesson with this teacher, was how to take good care of the 'brushes', since then, this has been an important rule! This was 20 years ago...
I remember thinking, when am I going to achieve the skills needed for an artist, and then, little steps started to take place and sometimes great steps too, encourage me to go on..
.
I lived in Africa for a year, there, the colours had a great influence in my paintings, I then lived in Rio de Janeiro, where, once more colours played an important role in my paintings. Acrylic, was another step I took, feeling my love for art. I loved acrylic at first sight, I senced !it right away
As I kept on gradually improving and developing my skills, Watercolour was also in my mind to achieve...Since I started thiis new medium It has enchanted me , enriched my skills and made me look seriously into it.
I have attended Watercolour workshops, where, besides making new friends, have helped me to improve, apply and discover new ways of expressing my love for art. Fabio Cembranelli, famous watercolourist, is responsible for my interest in watercolour
I grew into a fuller, lighter and mature condition, unfolding a fuller working out of the details of anything, in which I achieved.
I find painting, my 'Best Friend' I carry it werever I go, it is always on my side, it does'nt occupy space, it is silent but present, I hope it will be with me until the End!
I do hope this small story of my love for art can describe and make you understand my feeling for this beautiful and 'Faithful Friend', Painting.!
