I have been an artist most of my life - Saturday morning art lessons as a small child, majored in art in high school and majored in painting in college earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Boston University, Boston, Mass. I started my career using pastels drawing French landscapes ,influenced by a major French Impressionist show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, and figurative beach scenes as subject matter, the beach being one of the best places for an artist to capture the human figure in many different attitudes, in repose and in action. I then progressed onto oil pastels, painting landscapes and beach scenes and finally to oils, painting landscapes and figures.
The tree and cow images were painted in oil on Ampersand Gessobord, a logo name. The board has a smooth but slightly mottled finish that shows up in the larger prints as an interesting texture element that adds to the painterly brushstrokes and gives a variety and richness to the painting and print. The winter landscapes were painted in acrylic on white archival mat board. The flowers are oil pastel on a gray archival board. The beach scenes are soft pastel on gray archival board and acrylic on canvas. Figures are oil on canvas and Gessobord.
I have had solo shows at the Hahn Gallery in Philadelphia, Pa and group shows at Nan Miller Gallery Rochester, NY. I have shown at art shows in Florida, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, North Carolina, Michigan and Illinois. My awards include a First Place award from the Festival of the Masters, Disneyworld, Fl. and an Award of Honor from the Contemporary Museum of Art in Virginia Beach , Va. My work is in many corporate and private collections, including Commerce Bank in Philadelphia, Pa and Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester NY.
