Jack is a visual artist using his art as one of the most perfect forms of communication available. He began his career as an engineer using drawings and sketches to communicate with other engineers and manufacturing departments. After a number of years he entered the world of computer engineering using his drawing abilities as a way of communicating different uses of processing systems. Although not fine art, it nevertheless was artistic communication. After retirement, his wife Nancy, a fine artist also, talked him into participating in a drawing class and he was 'hooked'. After three years of taking various art classes and workshops he is actively painting in acrylics, pastels, and colored pencils. Jack's work has been in several shows sponsered by the Colored Pencil Society of Arizona, local art club shows, and by the Colored Pencil Society 'Four corners plus California' (Arizona,New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, and California) show. His emphasis has been on landscapes painted both in the studio and en plein air. Many of his paintings covey the peacefulness of nature while at the same time convey the geological and or historical significance of an area. Recently he is painting in the area of portrait/figure using the same theme of communication as an underlying motif of his paintings. Using the old adage ' a picture is worth a thousand words' as an underlying theme he continues to produce paintings from various personal meetings with people and on various trips through out the United States, Canana, and abroad.
