Born in the late forties, even as a child, I was always drawing and had a fascination of all creatures and the immense beauty of our planet - it was like a painters palette. Work took me to places all around the world and I had the opportunity to see the diversity and variety for sketching of so many brilliant subjects as amazing landscapes, mountains, historic buildings, the richness of the people and their special stories etched on their faces such as in the face of the people of the Indian Reservations and the old timers living on the streets of Asia. Not to mention the incredible animals of America, Africa and Europe and the start contrasts of the Australia landscape - one just has to paint! I didn't study art at university - I was told to get a 'real' job, so studied engineering instead.
In 2001, I joined the Australian Guild of Realist Artists (AGRA) and have been a Councillor since 2006. Four years as Editor of the art magazine “Hues”. As Editor of the 'e-Hues - an on-line publication and Project Manager of the Australian Artists at Large (AAL) (on-line competition). President of the Wildlife Art Society of Australasia Inc (WASA), Member/Councillor of the Watercolour Art Society of Australia, member of Victorian Art Society and Associate Member of the Melbourne Society of Women Painters & Sculptors Inc.
I have always believed that art expression is a continual learning journey, something new each day assisted by attending demonstrations & workshops and best of all, learning to really see! Although I paint in all mediums, my favourite being watercolour, it offers beautiful textures, brilliant shades just with adding a little water - also presents a challenge and learning.
I am continually influenced by other artists works - seeing them so well and it gives me the inspiration to keep painting. My regrets are that I do not do enough painting!
