Growing up in North Carolina, a genuine love for the outdoors becomes almost inherent. Having parents that instilled in a young man a passion for camping and hiking helped to shape my view of the environment as something to be protected and admired. My Christian beliefs served to develop respect and appreciation for our created surroundings.
At age 40, I was blessed with the opportunity to remove myself from the manufacturing arena, where I had served in various management and supervisory roles. Returning to school afforded me the chance to flesh out my love for the environment by becoming certified by the state of NC as an Environmental Educator, ultimately completing my Bachelor of Arts with honors in Environmental Studies.
As time passed, I found myself blessed to be able to live in Vermont for several years. I developed a real passion for both kayaking and photography, and thrived in this tiny little state. In turn, my proximity to the area provided favorable circumstances in which to travel New England and the maritime provinces of Canada. Between exploring my newfound home up north, and returning to North Carolina during my vacations for times spent in the mountains and along the Outer Banks, I increasingly found myself humbled that I was given the chance to revel in some of eastern America’s most beautiful places. It was also during this time that I realized exactly how much of a blessing this was, and that not everyone was provided that opportunity.
It is my hope that the images presented here will serve to allow others to visit some of the places I have been, and to love and appreciate the beauty that fills our world, even the small portion captured here. So step into my world…see what I see. I hope you find something you like!
