I began painting in watercolor, then fell in love with the flow of painting with dyes on silk, so exploring the massive world of fabric and fiber art has been a natural transition for me.
I incorporate a variety of paints and other media, such as beads and found objects, in my art. I also enjoy combining fabric and metals such as copper, bronze mesh, copper wire, etc. Creating art quilts allows me the freedom to utilize my skills in numerous ways.
My art quilts are usually fixed with a sleeve on the upper back for insertion of a slat to hang on the wall. There are many alternate ways to mount an art quilt, such as mounting on plexiglass, stitching to a painted art canvas, or framing. Most of the original art quilts featured are for sale, but you can also purchase cards, prints, or canvas renditions. Commissions are welcome. Please contact me for availability, prices, and commissions at quiltcookie@yahoo.com.
