I've been an amateur photographer for more than 40 years. A native of New York City and resident of Hampden, Massachusetts, I began a career as a reporter and editor at The Daily News in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1973 and retired in 2009 after serving as city editor of The Republican for 10 years. I have a bachelor's degree in communication arts from Fordham University and a master's degree in business from Western New England College. Cape Cod, Nantucket Sound, the Atlantic Ocean and Cape Cod Bay are among my favorite subjects. I particularly enjoy sunsets on the Cape and capturing them in a photo. A blazing sunset can be so dramatic. Notice I said sunset. I seldom wake early enough to get a sunrise photo. My favorite spots are Gray's Beach in Yarmouth Port and Rock Harbor in Orleans. Lately I've been experimenting with panoramic photos such as the one above at the lighthouse beach in Chatham. I also enjoy taking scenic travel photos, as seen in my recent trip to Vienna, Austria.
