Jim Harris - Fine Artist

My philosophy of art is simple: I paint what I want; if someone else is moved by it, that's great! I derive great joy from selling my original paintings to people who truly love them!
JIm Harris ArtWorX Studio is my home studio from which I produce my 'stained-glass-canvas' acrylic paintings. I have a degree in Art (oils, watercolor) from James Madison University, but for 35 years I have been an ordained pastor in the United Methodist Church. In 2004 I retired from full-time ministry, but I still serve in ministry settings. Currently I am the Interim Pastor of Wellspring UMC in Williamsburg, VA.
I create colorful acrylic paintings that tend to remind the viewer of stained glass. I call these paintings my 'stained-glass-canvas' works. They are obviously influenced by years of church work, though they generally are not 'religious' or 'spiritual' in nature. An exception to this are the Christian Icon paintings I produce in the 'stained-glass-canvas' style. My 'stained-glass-canvas' paintings tend to use flowers, still lifes, and nature as the subject matter, often influenced by the beautiful scenery that exists all around me in the Shenandoah Valley where I chose to live. I also produce coastal themed paintings for my Outer Banks galleries. Currently I am producing a series of stained-glass-canvas paintings of Staunton, Virginia landmarks.
I sell my original works, and not prints; and I price them very reasonably in order for ordinary folks to be able to afford them. When you purchase one of my works you become the owner of an orginal, unique piece of art that no one else in the world owns, and usually for under $100.00. My work is on display at the Gaskins Gallery, Avon, Outer Banks, North Carolina, Indian Town Gallery, Buxton, Outer Banks, North Carolina, and at the YellowHouse Gallery, Nags Head, Outer banks, North Carolina; i I also sell small reproductions of my work in mini-format as blank-inside greeting cards.
