I grew up in New Mexico and have lived in various parts of North and South America. My style reflects the bright colors gleaned from traveling around the United States and South America. I work in most media, but have discovered a real joy in pastels. They are tactile, immediate and long lasting. Other than smudging if touched (they should be framed under glass), they are very durable. The colors are clear and vibrant.
I enjoy painting from life and use my own reference photos just as a reminder of shape or lighting. Plein air (painting on location) is a favorite as you need to work quickly to capture the light and the moment. How long does it take to paint a painting? Thirty or so years of experience and a few hours of application. I've been painting regularly since 1994.
I moved my studio/gallery at 1009 Main Street #3, downtown historic Bastrop, Texas, to my home. Make an appointment to stop by and see me at work and view my paintings in person. They are soon to be in a new studio. Our home, including my studio, burned in the big fire in Bastrop, Texas, September , 2011. We are fine and in the process of getting a new home and all the goodies in it. Need to get started painting again!
I still have a few paintings at the Main Street address in the Bastrop Fine Arts Guild Gallery, open 10 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday. They also have First Friday receptions with a featured artist from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. monthly. Maybe I will see you there.
Send me an e-mail under CONTACT for an appointment or with any questions. There is more art on my website click above.
