Jo is a native Kansan who began burning in 2004. She loves all forms of art - having tried them all, but never settling until finding Pyrography. 'There is something fulfilling about finding the right piece of wood - no two pieces are ever the same- , and then having the subject and grain of the wood merge into a ONE OF A KIND treasured piece of art'.
10 Years later, this self- taught artist has sold pieces all over the world - as well as becoming a teacher for students both locally and around the world!
Jo also gets to claim the title of First Person to Teach Pyrography in the Antarctic! (Having worked and taught on McMurdo Station for 2 seasons.)
For those unfamiliar -'Pyrography is the art or process of producing designs on wood, paper, leather, or other materials using a heated tool, flame or solar energy.'
Jo is a member of the International Association of Pyrographic Artists
