I have a strong creative urge that is satisfied by drawing, painting, quilting, gardening and cooking. In the past 5 or 6 years, I have returned to drawing and painting. Before this, quilting and work took up my time. The transition from quilting to painting is not a difficult one as both mediums involve working with colour and design. My art work is in watercolours, acrylics, pastels, graphite and my favourite medium, charcoal. Animals have always been my favourite subject although, recently, I have also been doing a number of portraits.
I have never had any formal training in the arts but have attended numerous evening or weekend workshops and have taken night courses put on by the City and Northern College. Among my instructors were Cathy Cribbs, John Huggins, Pam Dallaire, Ellen Catherwood, Colette Theriault and Donna Howie. As a member of the Porcupine Art Club I have exhibited art at the Timmins Museum as well as at LaGaleruche. Other works were accepted into exhibits in Englehart and Kirkland Lake.
RecentlyI had a solo exhibit at LaGaleruche in the LaRonde Building in Timmins, Ontario which included paintings, drawings and quilts which I had designed and made.
