Finalist In The Animal Wildlife Category Of The Artists Magazine 31st Annual Art Competition

Norwich, NY - August 9th, 2014

Wildlife artist Johanna Lerwick has been selected as a finalist in the Animal/Wildlife category of The Artist's Magazine 31st Annual Art Competition. Johanna's submission of "Silent Hunter - Bobcat" and her "Geese In Flight" were chosen out of 1061 entries. Both of Johanna's entries were selected as finalist and will appear in the December 2014 issue.

OXFORD – On November 16, 6 On The Square (6OTS) will be hosting an opening reception for local artist Johanna Lerwick from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibit of oil paintings will run from November 16 through January 27. The Friday reception is open to the public and free of charge. Johanna Lerwick’s art is her passion. She is a self-taught oil painter who was born and raised on a farm in upstate New York. She credits the farm life and exposure to animals as her initial inspiration. For years, Johanna only considered art as a hobby. For a time, she had stepped away from her art and traveled. Johanna explored the United States, Mexico, Africa, Amazon, and the South Sea Islands. This fueled her desire to paint, to share what she had seen, and express her emotions as art. Gallery Opens Solo Season With Local Artist

Norwich, NY - March 15th, 2012

NORWICH – The Jill Kraft Gallery of Norwich is pleased to announce the beginning of the 2012 artist season. The Gallery will open its season with local wildlife artist, Johanna Lerwick March 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Artists’ Palette of Norwich. Lerwick will be exhibiting and selling medium to large scale wildlife original artwork and prints. The show is open to the public and will be available for viewing from March 31 through May 14. The Gallery is open Tuesday through Friday 10-5 p.m and Saturday’s 10 to 3 p.m. Whether it is capturing a wolf in an element of surprise, or a deer in the midst of an evening walk, when painting, Lerwick aims not only to capture these scenes but ultimately bring them to life. Artist Johanna Lerwick Donates Work To Wolf Mountain Nature Center

Norwich, NY - July 2nd, 2011

NORWICH, N.Y. - One local artist, Johanna Lerwick has combined her love of painting and passion for nature and wildlife, and recently donated several professional prints of her work to a local non-for-profit organization. Johanna Lerwick, professional oil painter, has donated numerous different prints of her nature and wildlife paintings to Smyrna based, Wolf Mountain Nature Center. The prints are for sale in the nature center's gift shop with all the proceeds going directly to aid the center's efforts. "I respect what they are doing in educating the public about wolves. I think it's great that something like Wolf Mountain exists here in Chenango County," said Johanna. "I thought it was a great fit for my work."
