Johanna Littleton - Fine Artist
Johanna Littleton works primarily in acrylic and mixed media which is a way of saying “she loves to experiment with new materials.” Her works on Yupo paper and metal are a result of one of her challenges to make beautiful art in a new way. She continues to experiment with canvas and paper too.
Many of her works have an underlying feel of the Orient or Middle East because she lived in Java, Indonesia and Esfahan, Iran. “It is impossible to be immersed in a different culture without absorbing some of the sights, sounds and colors. All of these have become part of my being, thus, my art.”
Littleton taught at Calhoun Community college and St. Ann's school. She also was an illustrator for the Decatur Daily newspaper for seven years before retiring to paint full time. She has a 'working artist” studio at Lowe Mill Third Floor #312 in Huntsville, Alabama which is a new destination for art lovers. Saturday from noon to four is the best time to catch many of the artists working.
