Born and raised in the beautiful rural countryside of Northern New York State, artist John Ashton Golden (JAG) found pleasure in drawing and painting at an early age. Finding inspiration in the natural environment, his family members' own natural artistic abilities, as well as pop culture iconography of 70s and 80s cartoon, comic book, and movie characters, John developed a versatile style that constantly sought to expand; a force unto itself. He attended the Rochester Institute of Technology, majoring in Illustration, minoring in Graphic Design, and concentrating in Creative Writing. There he developed a popular comic strip 'The Exploits of Aimless Boy', which was featured in the school's weekly 'Reporter' magazine. After graduating in 2001, John eventually moved to Chicago, where he currently resides, and has been working a plethora of intriguing art-related jobs, teaching art on occasion, and freelancing for a wide variety of illustration, independent comics, and graphic design related projects and clientele. Time allowing, John continues to draw and paint purely for pleasure and self-expression.
