The artistic influence of John Edebohls has been a lifelong journey. John grew up in a remote area of New York State. Having been lured by the natural beauty and diverse heritage around him, the creative spirit of his Architect Uncle, and a lifelong passion for art, John began to realize that he could be successful with his artistic talents. Being able to draw, create and express his thoughts through his drawings, he has spent most of his working career as an engineer and furniture designer for his own furniture manufacturing company. John has a B.A. degree from Marist College located in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. In more recent years, his passion for art has enabled him to create his own artistic style. Painting landscapes, coastal wetlands, water birds, seascapes, water craft, lighthouses, and botanical subjects has forged a more creative path with his media of watercolor. Using a unique combination of realistic techniques has lead to his artistic approach of self expression. While there is a technical correctness to these natural works, there is also a lightness and delicate beauty to Johns' work that makes it special. He has come to the conclusion that art is like ones own handwriting and over time a style evolves which apparently comes from within. John keeps motivated by painting with other artists and has had the good fortune to study with an artist who has over 50 years experience all over the world and is so willing to share her knowledge and talents with him. He considers his paintings as contemporary realism. John is truly pleased to share his abilities and creations with you and spends a great deal of time creating his latest work. Currently living in Ft. Myers, Florida, He fills his spare time cycling, kayaking, beach combing and general outdoor activities. John is inspired by many influences and experiences in his life and enjoys doing freelance as well as commissioned work.
