Born 1959 in Macclesfield Cheshire. UK. I am a professional artist, known worldwide for my Canine artwork. Though I also paint many other subjects such as figuratives, nudes, fantasy, equestrian and landscapes. I have over 50 limited edition prints published by the major publishers over the last 14 years or so.
I am self taught and I knew I wanted to be an artist by the age of five years old!
I am quite well known for my highly detailed realism style of painting, but I am also 'in love' with painting in the 'loose' style, especially with oil paint. There is nothing quite like working with thick oil paint! I love it! I also find it very strange that painting in the loose style, is very much more difficult for me? Maybe because of all the years spent doing detail? The older I get, the more I realise that detail is not necessary in a painting. It is the feel of the art that is important. To me anyway. :-)
I have spent most of my life studying the techniques and knowledge of the Old Masters in great detail. Much of what they knew has been lost unfortunately, but with careful study, their 'secrets' can still be disclosed. My major influences have been Rembrant, Da Vinci, Titian, Caravagio and many others.
My work is in private collections all over the world, including many celebrities such as Prince Michael of Kent and Cliff Richard. I am also the only living artist to have work permanently hanging in the prestigious gallery of the Kennel Club in London, thus putting me forever in the history books!
My art career is something that I am extremely proud of and not a day goes by without me counting my blessings! I would like to thank all the collectors of my work and let them know how grateful I am for allowing me to continue my life as an artist. This is something that I enjoy, every minute of the day. So I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
