Biography - Statement

John Wieser, a self-taught artist born in 1969, was raised in Altenmarkt/Zauchensee, Austria.

At a very early age, John realized that art would not only become his chosen profession, but his calling.

The artist started his professional career in 1993.
He was fascinated by the smallest detail of nature - veins on a maple leaf, animal coats just begging to be touched, or reflections in an eye, later evident in the detailed refinements of his paintings.
He delights in the entire process, from empty canvas, to thought-provoking idea, following through with a perfectly painted creation.
When reflecting nature, John incorporates aesthetic harmony in all of his work, whether animals, landscapes, or the complexities of the human condition!
He works with different mediums, acrylic, watercolors, Gouache, etc. for landscapes and animal paintings.
The artist begins with pencil as 'equipment of the first hour', which offers very many possibilities of organization from the early sketch-up into a photo-realistic distinguished elaboration of combined medium representations.
Particularly for portraits and nude-artwork he recommends the pencil. No color, no brush can reach the exactness of a fine pencil point. A large advantage he sees also in the grey tones of Graphite, which permit the viewer to look more deeply the character of the subject, without being diverted by color.
One of the most important points for the artist is, to create something special, to surprise the viewer. Few realize how many details can be hidden in nature, in a flower, animal or human body.
In 2002, the artist began to work more on his nude-pencil-drawings always focused, connecting aesthetics and naturalism in a perfect artistic execution. At the time, his nude-series is one of the most important in this special technique in Europe!
The biggest challenge for John Wieser is commission-work, to create a painting or drawing for someone's special desire, perfectly done!
