As a self-taught artist, I have spent most of my life learning--from others, as well as myself. Art has been a passion since childhood and I can't imagine my life without it. I am constantly evolving as an artist and feel that my artwork is a direct representation of that growth. Through the years, my style has developed into a mainly impressionist one, with a touch of abstract and realism thrown in for good measure! I try not to take myself too seriously and aim for an artistic style that reads as fun, whimsical and timeless.
In the late 1990's, I began painting wall murals in my childrens' rooms, which led to my family's and friends' homes, and eventually became a small side-job/hobby for me, painting large-scale wall murals in residences and businesses in and around the Kansas City area. I continue to paint mural commissions and enjoy every moment of it-especially painting children's room, since they seem to be the most enthusiastic about the finished product!
I am a Certified Fine Art Instructor for Grumbacher Art and teach Acrylic Painting Workshops at Michael's Arts and Crafts Olathe, Ks. I teach children, beginners and intermediate classes. I also teach freelance, private in-home lessons in and around Kansas City. I have added private painting parties to my list of creative services that I provide and have had tremendous response and success from those. Teaching others how to paint is an absolute joy for me and love that I get to interact with others and showing them just how easy it can be to produce beautiful artwork. Being self-taught gives me somewhat of an edge, I feel, in that I can relate to those who are just starting out and can show them that art really does come from within and not from a college degree, necessarily.
