I have found that being creative has always come naturally to me. Ever since I was a small child my way of thinking and going about doing things has always come across strange to some and to others seeing that I have some creativity. For years I have read and studied about left handed people, as I am left handed, and some of the most creative people are left handed. As I grow older that has been in a way an obsession of mine. It is a side note but maybe that helps in my art and creative process.
My influences have been linked to my favorite artists Van Gogh, Dali, Pollock and Rockwell. Even though I don’t like the word artist when people have talked about my work and me personally, I view these icons as artists and nothing more.
Throughout the years my expression of art has always been 'Manic' in nature. Movement within my pieces has had an unfinished look or what has been described as, 'The paint that wants to run away.'
Everyone has influences in their work and my art gods as I like to call them have always told the story for me. Even though my style is developing (when you look at my influences they are nothing alike), it is the feel, the story being told and Van Gogh expressionism gives you the sense of urgency, the unrest, and mania that I really have grown and admired.
Fast expression, whether there is frustration or calm within the work, is a timeline or draft of my feelings. And drawing from past life experiences has been a main focus. That being lost love, sadness and the joyful times; hence the statement, 'There is madness amongst all of us, mine happens to be ART.'
