By painting I allow the voice within me to emerge through spontaneous expression. It is like consciously dreaming as thoughts come and go and grow while time stands still. When designing I try to let go of my consciousness and let the energy about me lead me. When I begin painting I attempt to return to the free spirit of the 5 year old that took brush in hand and got lost in the moment and freely stroked the canvas expressing all the joy, or anger or whatever emotion ruled the day.
A respect for the natural environment has been a continuous thread throughout my life. My landscape paintings and enamels are a way of preserving the endangered landscape, to be a voice for the land to remind everyone of its beauty and importance. I try to evoke the emotion of the scene through colors and lines. Although my passion for the environment is basic to my being, I explore other interests, mediums and techniques, including installation art.
