Hello. Thank you for taking a look at my work. I am primarily a watercolorist in love with wildlife, Americana and horses as the subjects of that love. I venture beyond that from time to time, but not often. I like telling the up-close personal stories rather than the great vistas. I also have a passion for drawing. I love to work with graphite using a very delicate touch. I usually create portraits of animals and people with the detail I can obtain with my pencil. Most of this work is by commission. I have currently been illustrating a series of books on the adoption of dogs, cats, and other furry critters, for the author of 'Without a Home.' This work can be seen at www.dnjbooks.com.

I worked for nearly 3 years at Hallmark Cards, Kansas City, MO. Painting color plates in values of black/grey watercolor, for printing the cards. This was the best education I could have ever had. I also took some random private classes, and some classes at the Kansas City Art Institute while working at Hallmark. This background, plus art classes at UNC much later, served me well. Also, I am a member of the International Society of Animal Artists.

I live on 15 acres with my little dog Gizmo, and my two horses. A Morgan named Spirit Hawk, and an Arab named Count. Almost every corner of the place has been an inspiration for part of a painting at one time or another.
