Any artist is lucky to find their true medium. Mine is copper repousse (pron. reh poo say)
a French verb meaning 'to push back'.
.
Repousse is one of the oldest metalsmithing techniques in the world.
I discovered repousse in 1999 at a festival in North Carolina. The festival featured
long forgotten crafts. Fortunate for me that the talented artist demonstrating repousse
agreed to take me as an apprentice. I began experimenting with different techniques
and patinas developing new knowledge as my own creations evolved. I am often asked
how long it takes to complete a piece. This is a hard question to answer as every piece
is so different. It is a continual process of learning.The result is a variety of styles and
approaches inspired by my travels throughout North America.

I hope my interpretation of copper repousse will arouse your interest and will help
preserve this beautiful unique ancient art form.
