Being raised in a household surrounded by art and music I was encouraged to draw and create things at an early age. As a young adult I pursued a degree in Recreation Therapy from Central Michigan University then practiced in mental health for several years. As time went on I became a full time stay-at-home mom. I have rediscovered the magic of art and am passionately pursuing my artistic endeavors. I have taken a few classes at the Flint Institute of Arts but primarily I am self taught by avidly reading art resources and by conferring with other artists and just playing around. Currently I reside in the state of Michigan (US) with my husband and our children.
I enjoy spending moments just observing light and shadows, people, objects and places and find myself needing to draw or sketch what I see. It's easy to become lost when creating a painting. I'm often finding myself wondering where the time went.
My paintings are primarily created by observations that I have made, photographs I have taken and sketches I create. I find myself thinking of a variety of different options then I take time to sketch out scenarios. After my final selection I begin composing my painting using either acrylic or watercolors depending on the outcome I want to achieve. The macro flowers are created with vibrant acrylic paint with intense colors and depth. I also enjoy painting watercolors with relaxing scenes from nature including butterflies, birds, flowers, animals and landscapes. Just recently I have started experimenting with oils.
