I am Kalynn Kallweit. I create dark art that is often macabre with a surrealist quality and often very detailed. I incorporate many items and images in my paintings and sculptures from the natural and industrial world. I have been drawing since early childhood, and creating my art with many different mediums, ever since. I have a strong curiosity and intrigue for all kinds of things and this has been reflected in my past works, and will likely always influence my art.
I moved to Vancouver from Alberta 7 years ago, where I was producing works using spray paint, building supplies, and various discarded items. Since my Vancouver arrival, my preferred method for the creation of my works has been Photoshop in tandem with more traditional art mediums.
I have been exploring more specific themes and imagery in my works which is giving them a stronger sense of unity with one another.
I've also stumbled upon creating or rather re-creating old dolls of various kind I find as well as making some from scratch.
As they come to life, I feel like a bit of a Dr. Frankenstein!
