Karen Casciani is an artist who enjoys photo- realism; she utilizes her photographic skills to capture an image, then brings it to life in a watercolor, pastel or acrylic painting. She is best known for her vibrant use of color, fine detail and dramatic backgrounds. Painting flowers has become her passion. A journalist once said about her work, 'the paintings look so real you can almost smell the flowers.' This Pittsburgh Pennsylvania native has been re-discovering her artistic talent since health issues forced her into early retirement. Karen has been showing her work since 1999, and has won over 120 ribbons and awards. Karen studied under Clint Scott, Pam Hardin, Gloria Solly and Lowell Crawford. She has had solo shows at Arts Clayton Gallery, Georgian Gallery and Season's Bistro. Her work can be seen at Arts Clayton Gallery in Jonesboro Ga., The Georgia Bar Association, Winsor Gallery in McDonough, Ga.and the Georgia State Capitol.
