Karen Garvin - Fine Artist
I've been doing photography on and off for the past 25 years or so, and I'm mostly interested in nature and architectural themes, although animals occasionally slip into the frame. I started in black-and-white film photography and learned how to do my own darkroom work, although I've mostly switched to digital imaging. With a background in graphic arts and printing, I tend to look beyond the immediate image and try to find patterns in the world around me. Visual texture is an important element to my work, and I think that is because I still tend to think in terms of black-and-white, contrast, and the zone system.
