I work with objects that at first glance may seem raw and undesirable, but become compellingly elegant once I begin to incorporate them into my art. A good example is my recent experimentation with animal hearts. Some may view using this material as morbid and disturbing, but I see these hearts as beautiful objects that retain an emotional and spiritual essence.
I try and find beauty in the world around me. All my sculpture is based on this search, and on personal emotions and experiences. Every piece is infused with my own response to particularly vibrant situations I have encountered. I analyze my emotions and experiences and express them through sculptural forms in which, without knowing me or having me explain my work, the meaning might be hidden from the viewer. My work is an outlet through which I express my innermost thoughts and feelings. My intention for viewers is that they enjoy their own interactions as they experience my work. I endeavor to create a mutual emotional exchange between the viewer and the art I create.
