'The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction.' ~Rachel Carson
Fine art and documentary phototographer Kate Hannon first began recording the world around her with cameras borrowed from uncles and a neighbor. As a child, her favorite places to shoot were the fields and meadows behind the small farm where she grew up, the city streets near where her grandmothers lived and the beaches of Cape Cod.
Seen in regional and national exhibitions, Kate's patrons love her imaginative fine art photography, particularly in night work and creative black and whites. Last winter, 'City Lights,' a night black and white of downtown Boston from across the Charles River, was included in a regional art exhibit of many mediums, 'Into The Night,' at the Gallery Seven. Last spring, an experimental night shot, 'St. Thomas Abstract,' was in the Scituate Art Association's annual regional juried show. This fall 'Harbor Offering' and 'Scituate Light' -- night black and whites -- will hang at 'Regarding the Third Dimension,' a national juried show at the South Shore Art Center. In addition, Kate is co-chair and exhibiting artist at the Front Street Art Gallery in Scituate Harbor where a selection of her photographs and greeting cards are on display. She also is the organizer of 'New England Night Photographers.'
