Kate McKenna is an Australian photographer and designer based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her enthusiasm for photography began as a child when, on special occasions, she was allowed to use her Grandmother’s Box Brownie camera. Her fascination with how the camera can freeze a moment in time is beautifully described by influential American photographer Dorothea Lange who said “Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still.”
Much of Kate’s work is destination related. She was fortunate enough to travel for many years and has captured images from the Arctic Circle to Antarctica. Famous tourist mecca’s such as Portofino, and inaccessible places like the island of Jan Mayen. More people climb Mt Everest each year than visit Jan Mayen! With each photograph her goal is to create an image that makes the viewer pause, for just a moment, and contemplate it.
