Kathie grew up in the mountains of western North Carolina. Inspired by a menagerie that she and her family helped to rehabilitate and by the mountains that surrounded her, she is a self-taught artist who began painting in her teens.
Her first sight of the ocean came at age 16 and she vowed to one day live by the sea. Since 2000, Kathie has resided in the Low Country.
Nature continues to be her inspiration. Whether capturing the tranquil essence of her beloved shore birds or cloud-inspired ponies dancing in the sky, Kathie's oils and watercolors reflect her deep respect for what she calls, 'this garden'.
Kathie is currently represented by The Sea Gull Gallery, 224 Coleman Blvd. in Mount Pleasant, SC. She is a member of The Mount Pleasant Artists Guild and The Folly Beach Artists Guild.
