Kathleen Hoekstra - Fine Artist
Putnam Valley, NY - United States
Kate Hoekstra works in a style which fuses contemporary realism and impressionist styles. She has studied with some of the best proponents of such styles in the New York area: Stephen Rogers-Peck (Westchester Art Workshop, NY); Wendy Caporale (Northern Westchester Center for the Arts, NY); Dean Fisher (Silvermine School of Art, Connecticut); David Loeb (Garrison Art Center, NY).
She exhibits and maintains a gallery in the Northern Westchester area where she also does commissioned portraits. Kate's work is popular among collectors who value solid draftsmanship and composition, as well as harmonious color. While her work reflects contemporary life, it favors the positive over the negative. And, while she strives for an emotional connection to the viewer, Kate's work avoids sentimentality. She works in both oils and pastels, and her canvases range from 9x12 to 24x36, generally.
