Since her early childhood, Art has always been a part of this multi-talented artist. No wonder when considering the fact that KCatia's first canvas was the city of lights itself: Paris. She grew up right by the tower of Eiffel and later as a teenager by the romantic Canal Saint-Martin.
Esteemed by her fans as a French Creole Gauguin, KCatia's style is a blend of Realism, Expressionism and Naive Art.
When asked how she defines her work, she says: ' Baudelaire's quote from The painter of modern life is the best definition I can find:
ďAn artist is the one who draws the beauty out of the ugliness or out of the common daily scenes of life.'
I believe in positive, beautiful, magical art work touched by a hint of fantasy. My goal is to lift up people's spirit.'
KCatia's themes, colors and brush strokes echo a tropical environment. This strong tropical influence comes from her colorful family roots: French Caribbean, Indian, Chinese and French. Kcatia has also a passion for photography.
Today KCatia lives in Northern Virginia. She is an alumni of the University of Washington and the University of Puget Sound from which she received her BA and MAT. KCatia has received formal art training classes with the University of Washington and VCU in Northern Virginia, as well, but still considers herself a self-taught artist.
