I was born and raised in Texas. When I turned twenty-one I took a trip to New York City and fell instantly in love with its energy. A few weeks later I moved to Manhattan with just two thousand dollars in my pocket. Like many young women at that time, I struggled continuously to find better jobs and apartments in which to live. As fate would have it, I kept finding work at advertising and design companies.
By my thirtieth birthday I was an account executive with a well known product design firm. I worked as part of a team that developed brands for Fortune 500 cosmetic companies, and fashion design icons.
While spending weekends in the beautiful southern Catskill Mountains, I was prompted by an inner calling to focus on my writing so I left my job to explore those deeper emotions that were beginning to surface. I had always kept a journal and now felt compelled to write about the world around me. I wrote several short stories and later published a book of poems that have a lyrical quality to them.
Eventually, I moved to the mountains to live full time and before long I found myself designing and building a horse farm that I CO-owned and operated for ten years. Working and caring for Arabian horses in a completely isolated, natural environment fulfilled a childhood dream.
During that time I was asked by a New York based cosmetic company to conceptualize, design, and do illustrations for a selection of toiletry lines. I have since retired and moved to warmer weather, but I still feel compelled to express my creativity whether itís through my illustrative art, writing or just batting around ideas with my life partner, Ben.
Recently, I was invited to consult on a project where I was responsible for refining and editing the manuscript for a fictional book.
