I've been an artist for almost thirty years. I've been painting the nature and wildlife of New England for most of my life, and I don't have to go far to find inspiration from Gods Creation daily.
My style has been described as a blend of traditional watercolor techniques with realistic centers of interest.
New England is a painters dream, the landscape is in constant change with the four seasons, sometimes some of these seasonal changes happen in the same day! The old saying ' If you donít like the weather in New England, wait awhile it will change' is so true.
There is an abundance of wildlife, native, and migrants, that subject matter is not a problem. I paint mostly birds, however, I will paint deer, fox, and other species on occasion, it all depends on what I've seen or what Ideas I have for a painting. I like the play of light in nature, the way a composition in a scene can be enhanced with the right lighting, not so much for the dramatic effect, but more for depth, and the way it helps with Form. I like the interaction of man made things with the natural world, an old barn, a stone wall, or a wren nosing around in my shed are all subject matter that draws my attention.
I hope I can share with you some of my amazement that I feel witnessing the vast beauty of Gods creation.
