Ken spent nearly 15 years in the UK as an Art Director in the computer games industry, publishing several award-winning and ground breaking titles, but eventually decided to return to his roots as a sculptor. He returned home to Canada in 2008, to live with his wife Suzanne, and to focus on creating sculpture full-time.
Ken creates Fine Art & Architectural sculpture in Stone, Wood & Steel. He has created a unique style of stonework which blends carving and painting onto specially selected pieces of stone, resulting in pieces that are vibrant and life-like, yet which retain the rugged, natural essence of the medium. His piece “At Water’s Edge”, depicting a blue heron, has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious 2011 NICHE awards.
He has attended prestigious shows such as the McMichael Autumn Art Sale, and undertakes public installations including his sculpture of a Canada Goose, called “Taking Flight”, which resides in the Old Dominion Seedhouse Gardens in Georgetown, ON. He was recently featured as an ‘Artist to Collect’ in the Summer 2010 edition of Arabella magazine for Canadian Art, Architecture & Design. Ken has also been selected to create and install the entrance signage for Downtown Georgetown, consisting of five large gatestones at key locations surrounding the town.
Ken also teaches carving classes and has won awards for his photography.
“I am inspired by the delicate balance between strength and fragility that is present in nature. I aim to capture the light and ethereal qualities of natural creation while crafting pieces with substance and permanence.
I strive to distill the essence of the world around me and express that energy in three dimensional forms, showcasing my inspiration and giving it voice with beauty and grace.
With my work, I seek to harmonize the natural and spiritual world with our modern lifestyles, bringing balance to our souls.”
