I have been painting for approximately 40 years - from my early years growing up on the Monterey Peninsula and in Carmel Valley and through my college years at U C Santa Barbara until now. I have obtained an MFA degree from UC Santa Barbara in 1969 after some active duty in the Coast Guard. I then taught art and design at San Jose City College and Evergreen Valley College until my move to Idaho in 1981, and then most recently to Georgia with my wife Leslie in 2006.
I would describe my style as a type of lyrical contemporary post impressionism - painterly - with abundant color. It is work that is 'abstract' in many ways as well. I have worked with different images over my painting career. Virtually all of the painting mages are of places I have lived or have visited. My desire is to create a perfect blend or marriage of style and image - at least for me and my collectors.
