Brigadoon is a theme I attach loosely to my work of landscape art, borrowed from the Hollywood production by that name, using subject matter to fit what I imagine to be a 'Brigadoon' sort of theme. There are some similarities to the Scottish Highland village depicted in that film: Arcadia Valley here is a small community of three villages, it is near the highest point in Missouri, Taum Sauk Lookout and, as I understand it, visitors from Scotland have remarked on the similarities of this area with the Scottish Highlands. Of course, the similarities go really only so far -- for instance, these 'highlands' really aren't so high -- our Taum Sauk Lookout is 1800 ft.; Scotland's Ben Nevis Mountain is 4400 ft. above sea level.
My art is in homes and businesses in my native Arcadia Valley/Ironton area in SE Missouri, and in other towns and states. I studied art at nearby Mineral Area College, Park Hills, hold a liberal arts degree from the University of California, San Diego, and studied law at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. I have received awards for my art at shows in St. Louis. My ''Greystone Inn in Brigadoon' was accepted into the juried Missouri 50 Show of Missouri State Fair, 2007.
