I primarily paint landscapes in a wide range of sizes in oil. My paintings are a blend of impressionism and realism and I strive to capture the abstract patterns in nature. When viewers look at my paintings I want them to feel that they are looking at something that is exceptionally well done, beautiful and makes them feel good. I would like them to have an emotional connection to the painting or relate to it personally and see the landscape in a unique way as I do.
When I paint, I start with a subject that inspires me and then allow the painting to evolve as I work on it. In finishing a painting, I concentrate on texture and on creating a work of art rather than an exacting portrait of the subject. This allows me to finish the paintings from my heart. When painting from nature, years of keen observation from all of my senses come out and each painting is an expression of my ever growing fascination with nature's light, color and patterns. This journey is the magic of my art.
