About Laurel D. Rund
Just what is the Essence of Laurel and how did it manifest itself? I am a woman who has experienced a life-altering event which transformed my belief codes and unfolded my creativity. My words and art have come together over the last few years and formed Essence of Laurel’s “Art from the Heart”. It is my new playground, a place where I can tap into my innermost creativity. The surprise is that it came at a time when I thought that the next chapters in my life would be boring and mundane. You know the “is that all there is” kind of feeling. Instead I have experienced a renewed sense of life, its possibilities and most importantly, been given the gift of appreciation for life in the present moment.
My art form is integrated digital art – a method which combines art and technology. The artwork incorporates digital elements from art forms, such as photographs of my original pastels, touch drawings, or a collage of my photographs morphed into a new image. This is called Integrated Digital Art – the mixed media of the digital art world.
As an artist, I combine any number of techniques to achieve unique results. Digital art is like any other art. It is created using different tools than the more traditional arts. For me, my 'Art from the Heart' is about a expressing visions and emotions.
As a writer and an artist, I have successfully published my first book “Emerging Voices” which is a personal journal of art and poetry about my journey through grief and loss. Several of my articles and stories have been published by the Open to Hope Foundation, Author’s Den, Baby Boomer Women and More.com. My artwork and notecards are being shown at art shows, retail stores, and on the Fine Art America site.
