Lee (Peddy/Hagewood) Owenby is a self-taught artist noted for her finely detailed ink drawings and photo manipulations. She has been creating art in a variety of mediums such as fiber arts, stained glass, ink drawings, acrylics and watercolors since the 1970’s.
Artist Statement - About my photography: I have never considered myself to be a “photographer.” I actually know very little about photography and cameras. What I do is not about the camera. It’s about the post-processing - what I do after I capture the image. I play with colors, digital techniques, create textures, add images from other photographs or scans of pieces of my own watercolors or ink drawings. My work takes on a painterly aspect and viewers frequently think they are looking at a watercolor or ink drawing. About my art: My earlier work were always finely detailed and very linear. Recently I‘ve been using acrylics to create looser, more playful, happy art.
