Hello, my name is Lee Smith, I was born in 1952, Jacksonville Florida and have been a resident of North Carolina since 1957.
I began painting in 1998 by studying my grandmother's art books and her notes. My work has has been represented by galleries, received awards in portraiture, animals, still life, and landscapes and is internationally collected. I have completed many commissions including for other artists.
My work continues to evolve since 2006, when I suffered a stroke. It was traumatic causing me to curtail my schedule and suspending memberships and exhibits. Recovery is ongoing through lifestyle changes. I lost my confidence when painting no longer flowed effortlessly. Holding a brush seemed foreign and mixing colors made my head pound. I thank God the joy of painting returned. I am back to accepting commissions..
