Lenore Walker’s journey towards creating fine art has been a winding path. With bachelors and masters degrees in religious education and a brief stint in pastoral ministry, she turned her attention to pursuing more creative venues in 1992. She gained certification & training as a decorative artisan in the Old World style and owned & operated a successful small business, employing herself & her personally trained staff in creating environments for both residential and commercial clientele. After a decade, this work gradually evolved into a focus on creating art works in a variety of styles and media, a childhood dream. She decided to concentrate her efforts full-time in this pursuit, beginning by depicting her love of cloudscapes and roses. A year later she found her attention drawn to abstract expressionism and experimental painting. Honing her previous understanding of water-based media, glazing techniques and the design of compositions rich in texture and pattern, she augmented her knowledge by attending numerous art courses with a number of successful Canadian artists. Her efforts have rounded out her vocation as she merges her interests in spirituality, healing and creativity. She has successfully shown & sold her work in numerous group and solo shows throughout Southern Ontario and the U.S. She teaches art classes through her studio, local area art schools and at the Niagara Pumphouse Art Centre. Her works grace private collections in California, British Columbia and Ontario. In the midst of art-making, teaching and volunteering at hospice, she commenced studies in art therapy with a spiritual formation approach through St. Stephen’s College at the University of Alberta, Canada and is currently completing her graduate research through the Toronto Art Therapy Institute (TATI). A native of the Niagara region, Lenore currently resides in St. Catharines, ON, Canada. You can view more of her work at www.lenorewalker.com.
