I'm a late-blooming artist from Western New York. As a young girl I had wanted to paint but didn't demonstrate the talent and quit before I started. In college, and after several changes of major, I received a BA in Philosophy and an MSW in Social Work that culminated in a thirty-year career. It was after retirement, with a Donna Dewberry kit, that I began painting. Two months later, I took eighteen paintings to a fair, sold out, and was hooked. I work in acrylics, pastels and am fairly obsessed with vivid colors, patterns, and metallic paint. My favorite artists are Gustav Klimt and Laurel Burch for how they compose and meld the natural with patterns. My paintings (landscapes, still lifes, cats, women) come in all sizes. I'm currently working on a Bridesmaid and Woman in Flight series. I have two goals...1. Do figuratives in nature against a backdrop of geometric lines and jewel tones highlighted in gold. 2. Create work that makes people smile or feel good.
