Tonight is the opening of a month long show called "Mermaid Magic" at First Street Gallery in Neptune Beach, Florida. There will be several regional and national artists along with Linda Olsen being showcased. Mysterious and magical, the mermaid has been a fantasy for many. Artist exhibit - Atlantic Beach is showcasing artist Linda Olsen's "Waterways" at the Adele Grage Cultural Center. Olsen's exhibit features the waters of Northeast Florida. Her work reflects the vivid and subtle colors of sky and earth connecting in patterns of light and texture. An historical and cultural festival will be held Saturday , May 22, 2010, 10 am to 4 pm at the historic Mayport village in Atlantic Beach, Florida. Mayport was founded in 1562. There will be re-enactments of Capt. Jean Ribault meeting the Timucuan Indians, tours of the historic churches, lighthouse and other buildings, live music and choral groups, a blessing of the Fleet and Shrimp boats, fine art exhibits bythe Highwaymen, Monica Angiuli, Mary Lou Bell, Valerie Cooper, Debbie Dillinger, Mary and Kathy Frosio, Linda Olsen, Jane Love, Gary Mac and more. Come out and learn about this fascinating little town, enjoy music and food, support the local fine artists, and the many festivities during the day.
