My desire to create is fed by our beautiful planet and its phenomena. While working spontaneously and intuitively, I try to demonstrate the earths relationships with objects and its first civilizations.
Using mainly acrylic, I paint rows of textured colors in an abstract style, referring to the sedimentary layers of the earth. I also work with found objects, and sometimes insert them in my artwork.
I grew up on the Gaspe peninsula, Quebec Canada. An artistic family inspired my love for Art and Music. I have a University degree in Visual Arts and furthered my studies over the years by experimenting with different methods and techniques.
For me, being an artist represents playing the many roles skill and knowledge grant me. I have chosen the name Asil to sign my art which is my first name spelled backwards and symbolizes my creative inner child.
