I have been drawn to all things art and crafty for most of my life. I enjoy dabbling in a little bit of every kind of art, but my favorite mediums involve drawing--graphite, charcoal, pastel, colored pencil & pen and ink. I love to do portraits, and have recently become very interested in making still-lifes with a twist of trompe l'oeil. My preferred style is realism, though I enjoy others.
I have very little formal training, but I devour art books constantly. I also love to watch sped up drawings on youtube, which I find very informative and helpful in my own drawing practice. Someday I'd like to take in some workshops to learn more about painting in oil, acrylic and watercolor.
My favorite artists, who have inspired me greatly, are M.C. Escher, J.W. Waterhouse, J.D. Hillberry, Norman Rockwell, Degas, and Renoir. I think of late, Escher and Hillberry have had the greatest influence on me. I especially enjoy the tricks they put into their work—their art makes you think, it’s more than just a pretty picture. I want my art to be like that, as well.
