Some people choose to become artists. In the case of Lola M. Black, it was her birthright. Born into a home of artists, She spent her childhood years in Hawaii and Tokyo. She studied fashion illustration and painting at Setsu Mode seminar (Art Academy in Tokyo), moved to New York to pursue art in 1995, and studied fine art at The Art Student's League of New York and National Academy School of Fine Arts.
Lola's current animal series focuses on our canine friends and the warmth and comfort they convey with their mere presence. Past works have included extensive abstract paintings, as well as figurative and Jazz pieces. If you enjoyed skulking around SoHo in the late 90's- early 00's, you may have seen her work!
Her works have been viewed in many juried exhibition, galleries and private/ corporate collections internationally.
